In order to kick off this chilly season, we’re breaking down the best places to go apple picking in New York this Fall so you can get excited for that apple cider.
Dr. Davies Farm:
Located in Cognars, New York, this farm prides itself on its incredible produce and family friendly apple orchard. Their apple picking season started September 4th, and features over 4,000 trees and 20 different varieties of apples to choose from. Reservations are strongly recommended, and make sure to bring some cash with you as they don’t accept credit cards.
Apple Ridge Orchards:
Nestled in picturesque Warwick, New York, this spacious and beautiful orchard features tons more activities than just apple picking. It’s cost-friendly, with general admission only being $3 to the orchard but make sure to know that costs will go significantly up for every half bushel of apples you decide to take home.
If you’re in North Salem, New York it’s time to head to this family-friendly orchard. Through September and November, you’ll be able to fill your bags with fresh apples to whip up some incredible pies later that evening. You can prepay for a smaller bag for $30 or a larger bag for $45. Pro tip: make sure to make a reservation beforehand, due to them limiting the amount of people on the orchard at once.
Yet another orchard located in North Salem, New York, this farm is perfect for those who want to take a spontaneous outdoor adventure over the weekend. It’s reservation only, and is not open during the weekday. Due to it being a popular spot, you’ll need to see what days are available and purchase a ticket. Trust us, it’ll be worth it.
Not only is this farm just about a two hour drive from New York City, but it’s also a beloved location that’s been around for decades. Located in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley, this orchard is open daily in the morning and afternoon for anyone suddenly craving some fresh and delicious apples. Make sure to register inside their market in order to enter the orchage, and stop by their delicious cafe for some delectable pastries.
